Music City Walk of Fame

On Sunday, November 5, 2006, Music City Inc. inducted the inaugural class of honorees into the Music City Walk of Fame.

Among the first group of honorees were Reba McEntire, Roy Orbison, Ronnie Milsap, Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, Maestro Kenneth D. Schermerhorn and the 135-year-old institution that is the Fisk University Jubilee Singers.

"This is a special day," said Mayor Bill Purcell. "In fact, it really doesn't get any better in any city than it does right here in this place today. … This first class of inductees represents in a perfect way the diversity of our music and why we are Music City. … This Walk of Fame is forever, just like the music and the musicians we honor here today."

A highlight of the presentation was the Fisk Jubilee Singers' performance of "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel?" a Negro spiritual arranged by Moses Hogan.

The Music City Walk of Fame is an official project of Music City, Inc, the charitable foundation of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau (NCVB), and is produced with the support of presenting sponsor Gibson Guitar, sponsor GAC, the City of Nashville and Metro Parks.
